April 2020

**Attendance is taken everyday!  I check daily to make sure work is being completed.**

Parents,

The building is closed, but school is not.  Dr. Coker want us to see each student or see the work of each student everyday (Monday through Friday) and take attendance.  Somewhere in this time will be a 50 point bonus to help with grades.  So, I am going to ask the students to work on i-Ready Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please make sure your child has downloaded i-Ready.  On Tuesday and Thursday, I will teach them on Zoom at 10:30

Because of this, I need everyone to download Zoom.

  1. COMPUTER USERClick on the meeting link that I emailed you. Next, click on download and run Zoom.  If you have been on Zoom before you will only have to click on Open zoom.us.  You will see a page that says “Please wait for the host to start this meeting.”
  2. IPAD USER: Download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app.  Open the app and tap Join.  Enter the meeting ID number I emailed you then click Join.  Tap Join with Video.  Tap Call using Internet Audio.

Mrs. Maxwell’s Class Facebook Group: I have created a private Facebook group for our class.  I sent an invite to the email you provided.  Please accept this invite and join our class group.  This is another way for our class to commnicate and stay connected.  I will also be giving tasks for your child to complete.  Thank you for your help!

iReady Math and Reading Practice:  We are encouraging each student to continue using iReady.  iReady is a Math and Reading program that we use at school.  I would LOVE for your child to spend 15 minutes in Reading and 15 minutes in Math Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  You can access the website by going to www.login.i-ready.com.  You will click on the blue button that says K-1 Card Login.  You must then enter our class number:  774216.  From there, your child should know the pictures to click.  If not, please let me know.  I have your child’s login with me at home.  I will be checking to see who is working in iReady.  The top 5 students with the most time will be recognized as an iReady Super Star!!!

Additional Practice I have complied a list of websites that are grade appropriate for kindergarten.  These websites are listed under “Educational Websites”.  These are great resources that are stimulating and will keep your child busy learning! Also, all packets have been distributed.  If needed, I can make a copy for you.  Please let me know if you need one.

Library:

Mrs. Judd said that if you go to the opsb home page and click on Home Learning there are free sites available to parents.

  1. ABC Shelf – offers 20 free ebooks with an account – directions are on her Teacher Page.
  2. MyOn books  – offering a free subscription – login information is given – for older kids a AR test is given.

Music:

  1. On Teacher Pages -scroll down and click on Dana Lowe for music that the children sang at school with her.

Science/Social Studies Page:–  (We are not graded in this subject, so this is for fun!)

  1. It reads a story to them, has questions, gives some sort of experiment, and has games.  Try it out!
  2. Go to https://app.studiesweekly.com/online/    Username: RM@opsb.net.  Password: 1234    Click on Kindergarten in either Science or Social Studies then click on a subject.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  My phone number is (281)414-0588.

Thank you for all your support! J
