Superintendent White Visits Richwood HighThe state of Louisiana's education superintendent, John White, brought his statewide tour north to visit Jump Start programs in action. Richwood's Jump Start program focuses on career and technical education. During Superintendent White's visit, the school highlighted the dentistry, nursing assistant, and cosmetology programs.

White says the purpose of Jump Start is to have high school students ready for jobs and life after they graduate. "The ultimate goal is to allow kids to move on and continue their life on a path of prosperity. Every student should graduate high school with a pathway straight to the middle class and the American dream. They should be able to go into the workplace, go into community college and go to university. There's not one path that's right for every student, but every student has to have a path coming out of high school," he said.

Students and teachers alike were excited to visit with Superintendent White and showcase what the school is doing to prepare students for their best futures.
